While he was born in Guinea, he moved to France when he was still young, and joined the local soccer club, OS Fives. This club was in the commune Fives, which is a suburb of Lille. Abdoul Camara was able to join the highly regarded youth academy, Stade Rennais in June of 2004. While he competed in the youth system, he played among many other young talents. They competed in semifinals, losing to Lyon. Camara made his debut for professional club Rennes, as a substitute on the final day of the 2008-09 season. He helped Rennes beat Marseille with a score of 0-4.
