Marco Reus was born May 31, 1989 in Dortmund Germany. Until January of 2012, he was playing for the Bundesliga club team Borussia Monchengladbach, but earlier this month, he signed a deal that brings him back to Dortlund where he first began playing the game.
In 1995, at the age of six, he played with the Port SV Dortmund Club, and by the time he was seven, he was playing for Borussia Dortmund. He played with them until he was about seventeen. In 2006, he started playing U-19 with Rot Weiss Ahlen. During his first year, he had the chance to play in six games, and he scored three goals in two of them. He played for the second team, and by the next year, he had advanced to the first team.
In 2008, at the age of nineteen, he managed to play in twenty seven games for the first team of Rot Weiss Ahlen, and he scored four times. Most of his fans see this as his professional breakthrough year. In 2009, he said farewell to Rot Weiss Ahlen, and he signed a four year contract with the team Borussia Mönchengladbach.
During the two years he played with them, he made almost eighty appearances, and he scored twenty eight goals. His contract with them was set to expire in 2015. However, many speculators thought that his contract had a 18 million Euro buy out clause. This buy out clause was set to take effect during the summer of 2012. In spite of those speculations, Marco Reus signed a new contract with his old club Borussia Dortmund on January 4th, 2012. According to this contract, there was a transfer fee of 17.5 million Euros paid, and he will be playing with this club until 2017.
Marco Reus also had a relatively successful national career. He made two appearances with the Germany U-21 team, and to date, he has made three appearances with the German National Team. Because this midfielder is only twenty two, most of his fans assume that he has a long career to look forward to, and they eagerly anticipate his next move.
